Scotmin TBC System

Since its introduction, the Total Bag Control (TBC) system has revolutionised bag closing in many market sectors such as aggregates, minerals, animal feeds, pet foods, potatoes, flour, food mixes, grain, pulses and many more.

One such installation is Scotmin Nutrition Ltd of Ayr, who have completed a major investment in new weighing, bagging and warehousing facilities.

The old Scotmin system consisted of two semi-automatic weighers and stitching systems.

Several problems were to be eliminated in one investment; these included requirements for higher output and efficiency, good seal to the bags and low maintenance in a dusty environment.

In response to this challenge two Pacepacker sack placing and closing systems were provided, each consisting of a T20 Series sackplacer and a “TBC” system. Instead of stitching, heat sealers fitted with bag top cleaning attachments provide effective and reliable sealing of the bag, despite the very dusty nature of the product.

“I have been delighted by the impact of this new facility,” says Andrew Robertson, managing director of Scotmin Nutrition Ltd. “with Pacepacker responding very well to the challenges laid down while still managing to deliver value. This allows Scotmin to progress and provide further value to our own customers.”
