To compliment the robotic range of pick and place systems that we supply, we also design & manufacture a range of mechanical pick and place equipment for placing items in flexible packaging (E.g. citrus fruits, potatoes, onions) into plastic retail trays and boxes.
One system in particular is the new FlexaPac unit, a newly developed product with patent pending. One of the key benefits that this system offers is that it dramtically reduces the amount of damage enflicted on the packs as they are handled.
The footprint has been kept to a minimum so that you can incorporate it into a similar space occupied by the manual labourers that you employ at present.
As standard the system has a combination of pneumatic and servo driven actions, a full servo driven system is a planned option. The system is based around a very basic concept making it easy to operate, diagnose and set up. A variety of products, trays / boxes and patterns are stored in a colour touch screen to enable fast changeover from one to another. Full statistics are viewed from the screen such as packs handled, trays completed, average throughput etc. A batching facility is also included where you can enter the number of trays / boxes or packs that you wish to process, after which the machine will pause.
For high efficiency operations where downtime is not acceptable, an email communication feature is available as an option so that the FlexaPac can contact a supervisor, engineer or operator should the machine not receive any packs or trays / boxes or if a problem arises. The situation can then be quickly rectified to maintain production.
As some companies use a variety of trays / boxes, it is plausible that an incorrect size one could be fed to the FlexaPac by mistake. Part of the cycle of handling the tray / box will incorporate a testing routine to make sure the tray height is within tolerance for the selected program.
